Sam Chong constructed this Air Asia Boeing 737 jet, using polystyrene reinforced with wood and 50mm ducted fan jet, in 2 days.
It proves the theory that polystyrene could be the best material for RC Air modelling uses, even better than depron.
I got this idea from Nelson's Su27 but this uses blue foam which is difficult to get in Sabah and had constructed one using polystyrene. It didn't fly and was damaged with spray paint.
Sam Chong managed to construct his Jet in just 2 days. He didn't use any plan in constructing this plane. I asked him why he didn't use depron or similar higher density foams. He told me that it was too heavy.
Polystyrene is strongest and lightest for its weight. It just has to be thick but this is not a problem for a crafted plane. Any localised weakness is compensated with wood reinforcements.
This plane weighs at approximatly 450 g. With 55mm ducted fan using normal 280 motor , it didn't fly as well, even with 2000mAH LiPo battery.

Sabah Radio Control Activities
This is devoted to Radio Control Activities in Sabah especially at Kota Kinabalu where I'm staying.
I shall try to post videos via youtube.
